Teach Your Child It’s Healthy To Feel Good

Here’s some science to explain how the link between our emotions and our physical state works. I hope by the end of this article you will throw yourself with abandon into laughing and enjoying life more often. And next time you see your child having fun, encourage them to do it even more instead of curbing their joy because you’re worried they’ll break or dirty something (yes I have been in your lounge…).

Our whole world will benefit if we all laugh more.

Our emotions (you know those things we try to avoid or ignore?), are actually vital for our survival because they play an important role in making sure our needs are met. If we ignore our feelings, our subconscious mind is designed to find another way to get its message across. By using symptoms, your body alerts you to the fact that your deeper needs are being ignored.

Did you know that all mammals show physical symptoms when they have an out-of-balance emotional state?

Every thought or feeling we have triggers the release of tiny chemical proteins called neuropeptides (NP’s). Neuropeptides, such as hormones, endorphins, cortisol, and adrenalin play a critical role in metabolic function. Every emotional state has its own distinguishable measurable frequency. The frequency of a specific emotion galvanizes photons within your cells and throughout your neural pathways which cause your body to release appropriate NP’s.

Positive emotions stimulate beneficial NP’s such as endorphins or oxytocin.  Negative emotions prompt the stress chemicals connected to our fight or flight response which help us respond or take action immediately, but if they are continually released over a prolonged period of time they can become harmful – which is how stress diseases like ulcers and high blood pressure come into being.

Science is now able to demonstrate the physiological effects of emotional states. Research is showing that your body literally becomes weaker or stronger depending on your mental state. States that weaken your system because of their lower vibrations are shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, anxiety, craving, anger and hate. Emotional states that strengthen your physical system are trust, optimism, willingness, acceptance, forgiveness, understanding, love, reverence, joy, serenity and enlightenment.

So, according to scientists, a protracted negative mental state predictably weakens your body – and vice versa.  Physical symptoms – thankfully – only tend to emerge after we’ve already held a certain state of being for quite some time. That’s why it is said that our physical symptoms reflect our deeper patterns of thinking and feeling. (Hello Louise Hay – if you don’t know her work check her out).

The thing is though, that the initial ‘chemical programming’ of our body is quite persistent. Once we have ‘switched on’ a certain pattern, to change it we have to purposefully ‘reset’ it. Even if you have changed your lifestyle and situation, the underlying chemical and thought patterns can remain. So for instance, someone who lacked sweetness in their childhood may never have had any symptoms but when they have found love and are happy they begin to have problems with their blood sugar levels. This can happen because the earlier ‘chemical programming’ at the cellular level hasn’t been changed. The lack of sweetness still exists in the body’s cellular reality.

Ironically, lifestyle changes that trigger the release of beneficial neuropeptides may actually bring the original issue to the fore. That’s probably because when a system is strong enough, it can afford to bring it’s imbalances to consciousness for resolution. Much as an emotionally stable person is much more able to deal with seeing his flaws than a very insecure person. Before then, a system represses or unhealthily compensates for imbalances in order to survive – but thriving requires another set of tools. So sometimes when a symptom shows up it’s actually an indicator that you are ready to grow to the next level of well-being. You are ready to hear your Truth.

The good news is that each of us has the power to increase our vibration and change our state of health. Don’t wait for a disconnect between your body and mind to create pain or health issues. Take daily steps to increase the balance between your thoughts and feelings and your body.

How?

Love yourself more. Laugh a lot. Listen to your Truth and act on it. Listen to your body. Wallow in good feelings when you have them. Spend your life in prolonged states of joy, gratitude, trust and love.

Ask yourself often, “If I loved myself, what would I choose to do now?”
